Episode 1: Neolithic Shamans
Neolithic Shamans: The Long-Headed Visionaries of Stonehenge
Staring back nearly six thousand years into the mists of prehistory,
Maria Wheatley uncovers the forgotten world of the Neolithic shamans whose otherworldly appearance marks the dawn of monumental civilisation.
With their elongated skulls, striking features, and mysterious presence, these fey-like visionaries emerge from the shadows of time as possible architects of Britain's first sacred landscapes.
Were they the original geomancers, mystics who sensed invisible currents beneath the earth and mapped the pathways later known as ley lines?
Did they walk the landscape seeking places where earth and sky converged in sacred union?
Following clues hidden within ancient monuments, burials, and alignments, Maria explores the possibility that these enigmatic figures possessed a profound understanding of the living energies of the land, laying the foundations for Stonehenge and Britain's vast network of sacred sites.
